Westchester Power

This informational session is to update community members on changes to their energy supply. Representatives from Westchester Power and Sustainable Westchester will be discussing the details of the upcoming contract for NYSEG rates, which starts December 1, 2023. They will present the details of the new contract, including the supplier and rates, and welcome questions the community may have on how to read their bill and energy related questions.

Westchester Power is a community-based bulk energy purchasing program designed to control costs and increase the use of renewable energy in Westchester County. It was initiated and implemented by Sustainable Westchester Inc, on behalf of member municipalities that have chosen to participate in the program. The program was established in 2016 and includes 29 municipalities throughout Westchester County who buy their electricity in bulk to provide a competitive, fixed rate. The program provides two supply options: 100% Renewable Supply, where the entire electricity supply is matched by New York State qualified hydropower Renewable Energy Certificates, and a Standard Supply, where the electricity supply is a mixture of fossil fuels, nuclear, and some renewable energy.
