Help the planet and your wallet at the same time with Visible Mending!
With the increased interest in upcycling, visible mending has become a popular way to avoid sending slightly worn or torn clothing to a landfill. It is an ornamental approach to repairing an item of clothing. Instead of trying to mask the area where the item is damaged, the goal is to highlight these imperfections in a creative, eye-catching way. A combination of techniques and materials can be used to extend the life of an item which is otherwise in good condition, save a small hole, rip or tear.
Come to the Library and learn about different ways to revive your clothing and embrace the imperfect. We’ll discuss a few different options for fixing rips and holes and then try some of the mending techniques, so if you have an item with a smaller rip or hole, bring it along! We’ll provide some mending tools but feel free to bring your own.
Space is limited, please register below. If registration is full, please email the Library at info@lewisborolibrary to be placed on the wait list. We frequently get last minute cancellations after we send out the reminder.
