Invasive species present one of the greatest challenges to New York’s biodiversity as well as to outdoor recreational and horticultural pursuits. In this presentation, you’ll learn how to plug into the Lower Hudson Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (LH PRISM) – a vibrant network of partners and volunteers who collaborate to mitigate the harmful impacts of invasive species and foster healthy ecosystems. Topics include: What defines an invasive species and what are their main impacts on ecosystem structure and function? How can you make smart decisions on what types of plants to purchase for your yard? What are the best practices for managing invasive species on both your own property and in our region’s parks? How can you get involved in community projects and feel empowered to make a difference?
This program will be presented by Brent Boscarino, Ph.D., Director of Land Stewardship at the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference and Lead Coordinator of the Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management. It is sponsored by the Lewisboro Garden Club.
