Senior Seminars Day

It’s a day just for seniors! We have speakers lined up for two seminars in the morning and two in the afternoon, with a break for lunch and time to browse tables set up with information on services for seniors. Brought to you by the Lewisboro Library, Lewisboro Seniors and Westchester County DSPS Livable Communities. Lunch sponsored by Atria Senior Living. Space is limited!

10:30- 11:30: “Smart Seniors”
Hear about common scams and frauds that target older adults – the warning signs, how to avoid becoming a victim, and where to seek help if you think you’re a victim. Also tips on internet theft and internet safety. Presented by Gary Brown – Statewide Elder Abuse Coordinator and Assistant Attorney General in Charge for the NYS Office of Attorney General – Westchester Regional office.

11:30- 12:30: “Financial Fitness”
A check up on your bottom line. Learn how to manage the “Business” of life, how to organize and access your important information, and understand your finances including monthly expenses/income in order to stay independent at home and prepared in case of emergency. Presented by: Ilene Amiel, Owner of Personal Affairs Administrator, Inc., a daily money management company specializing in seniors.

12:30 – 1:30: Lunch and services browsing

1:30- 2:30: “Brain Boosters”
As we age, we may experience memory loss, decreased attention span, inability to reason or problem solve, degradation of our senses, or other very necessary brain functions that many of us take for granted. Stacey will offer games and activities to stimulate and revitalize our neurologic abilities. Presented by Stacey Zaslow-Cook, a licensed geriatric social worker, and the owner of Aging Smart.

2:30- 3:30: “Qi Gong (or Chinese Yoga)”
Relaxing yet energizing, Qi Gong can relieve many ailments: back pain, neck and shoulder problems, low energy, muscle stiffness, arthritic complaints and others. Great for people recovering from surgery or other medical treatments. All fitness levels can take this class. Comfortable clothing and sneakers or bare feet are suggested. Presented by Nancy S. Fried-Tanzer, M.Ed, a Health Educator specializing in Healthy Aging
