This workshop will show you how to turn a well-worn, well-loved book into a unique piece of art – promoting sustainability by giving new life to discarded materials.
Ashlyn Longobardi of The Simple Sunday will lead this class on creating framed pieces from old books. For this project, we’ll use the whole book to create a three-dimensional piece, the decorated book will be mounted within a picture frame, with the glass or plastic removed.
The Library will have a supply of discarded books, but participants are encouraged to bring their own well-worn favorite books for a more personalized touch (eg. a favorite worn children’s book for a child’s room.) Participants should also bring their own recycled 11″ x 14″ wood frame – if you don’t have one, they are easily found at tag sales and thrift shops. A large 10-inch photo display stand (see photo below) can be used in place of a frame.
