Recycled Book Craft: Book Quote Wall Hanging

August 5 @ 7:00 pm

Wall hanging made from discarded book decorated with stencils and paper flowers, and mounted in a frame

Often, libraries face the challenge of disposing of books that have become damaged or are no longer in circulation. This workshop will show you how to turn a well-worn, well-loved book into a unique piece of art – promoting sustainability by giving new life to discarded materials.

Ashlyn Longobardi of The Simple Sunday will lead this class on creating framed pieces from old books. For this project, we’ll use the whole book to create a three-dimensional piece, the decorated book will be mounted within a picture frame, with the glass or plastic removed.

The Library will have a supply of discarded books, but participants are encouraged to bring their own well-worn favorite books for a more personalized touch (eg. a favorite worn children’s book for a child’s room.) Participants should also bring their own recycled 11″ x 14″ wood frame – if you don’t have one, they are easily found at tag sales and thrift shops.

Space is limited, please register below.
