The Lewisboro Library Book Group usually meets at the Library on the last Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m.
This month the group will be discussing Erasure, by Percival Everett. The novel is about a Black upper-class author whose novels receive academic praise, but sell poorly due to not being “Black enough.” Frustrated, he writes a deliberately offensive stereotypical novel that accidentally becomes a best-seller, sending him on a winding journey of identity, grief, and defining Blackness, blurring the lines between satire and reality. In 2023 Erasure was made into a film and renamed American Fiction. It won an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
Books are available through the Westchester Library System and copies are often ordered in advance for members to pick up at the Library. New members are always welcome in this adult, co-ed book group. For more information contact Myrna or Steve Shomstein at (914) 533-2550.
