Did you hear that the Lewisboro Garden Club has a new challenge as part of their “Rooting for Lewisboro Initiative?” Last year they gave away tree seedlings to encourage new tree growth in our community. This year they are celebrating “Champion Trees,” the oldest and largest trees in town.
If you think you have a Champion Tree, visit the Garden Club website http://www.lewisborogardenclub.org to read more.
Then, check out a Citizen Science Kit from the Library. The kits have equipment for determining the age of trees, with the goal of creating a gallery of old trees in Lewisboro. What a tree-rific idea!
Here’s the check out criteria:
- Only one pass per family may be borrowed at a time.
- They will be circulated for two weeks and no library card is required to obtain one.
- The timeframe may be extended if no one else is waiting.
- Kits must be returned inside the Lewisboro Library.
- If the entire Kit is lost, the replacement cost is $54.
