DESCRIPTION:For Grades 3 – 5. \nIn this program\, Miss Ally will work each week on a different activity surrounding STEAM: Science\, Technology\, Engineering\, Art & Mathematics. This week we have guest instructors from The Westchester Children’s Museum\, who be here for two STEAM Thursdays with special “Think Like an Engineer” projects. \nThe instructors will give students a building challenge designed to mimic the challenges of real-world engineering through teamwork and problem solving. \nWhile the two classes on August 21 and August 28 will be individualized\, participants can either sign up for one or both. As the instructors are doing this free of charge\, the program is open to anyone in Westchester\, not just Lewisboro Library patrons. \nPlease register below. \nThe Westchester Children’s Museum\, located on the Playland boardwalk in Rye\, is a vibrant interactive learning space for children and families. The Museum has many summer and school-year programs\, in addition to hands-on exhibits. The annual Fair is our largest fundraiser to support the Library. \nThe Book Sale and Attic Treasures Sale are two of the most popular events of the Fair – and we need YOUR gently used items for these sales. \nOn Saturdays August 9 & 16 from 9 am to 1 pm\, and August 23 from 10 am to 2 pm\, volunteers will be collecting donations of gently used books and Attic Treasures at Onatru Farm Park. DESCRIPTION:Grades K – 5 \nOur friends at Rock n’ Rescue are coming back with their feline friends to let children in grades K – 5 practice their reading aloud skills by reading to the kittens – and cuddling them too! \nThis program helps children develop their reading skills and their sense of compassion. They will learn about animal-savvy behavior and volunteerism. It also provides enrichment for the cats and helps them learn to trust children and adults through calm\, positive interactions. \nThere are three 15-minute time slots available –  1:00 pm\, 1:15 pm\, and 1:30 pm (siblings share a time slot\, so if you are bringing siblings\, please only register one FAMILY.) There will be two kitten playpens\, so two families can register per time slot. DESCRIPTION:For Grades 3 – 5. \nIn this program\, Miss Ally will work each week on a different activity surrounding STEAM: Science\, Technology\, Engineering\, Art & Mathematics. This week we have guest instructors from The Westchester Children’s Museum\, who will be here for two STEAM Thursdays with special “Think Like an Engineer” projects. \nThe instructors will give students a building challenge designed to mimic the challenges of real-world engineering through teamwork and problem solving. \nWhile the two classes on August 21 and August 28 will be individualized\, participants can either sign up for one or both. As the instructors are doing this free of charge\, the program is open to anyone in Westchester\, not just Lewisboro Library patrons. \nPlease register below. \nThe Westchester Children’s Museum\, located on the Playland boardwalk in Rye\, is a vibrant interactive learning space for children and families. The Museum has many summer and school-year programs\, in addition to hands-on exhibits. DESCRIPTION:Have you always wanted to learn Mahjong? This 4-week session\, led by Donna Pirro\, will meet on Tuesday evenings from July 29 – August 19. It will give you the basic skills to start playing. \nThe Library owns Mahjong tiles\, which will be used for the class.  You will need your own Mahjong card to play.\n\n\n\nPlease order a 2025 Mahjong card as soon as possible\, so it arrives before the first class.  It can be ordered at https://www.nationalmahjonggleague.org/store.aspx#\n  \nThis is NOT a drop-in program\, registration is required. There are a limited number of spaces since we already had names on our waitlist from the last session. \nPlease register on the webpage for the first class on July 29.
