SUMMARY:Make a Kite
DESCRIPTION:Outdoors\, weather permitting.  Otherwise will air on Facebook Live. All ages.\n \n\nCome join Miss Marie and make your own simple kite. \nSpace is limited and masks are required.  Please register family members below. \nMaterials will be provided if we meet in person. If held via Facebook Live\, please see materials list below. \nMaterials List: \n8.5″x11″ piece of paper. \nThis is your standard copy paper size. Regular paper works fine\, but I like card stock because it’s a little sturdier. Use whatever you have. If you use plain white paper\, let your kid color bright designs all over it before beginning the project. \nA wooden skewer. A straight drinking straw works too. \nKite string. You can find this at a lot of department stores. If not\, almost any strong but light string would work. Quilters’ string is about the right thickness. Yarn may be too heavy\, sewing thread too light. Fishing line is light but strong. \nRibbon. Most wide ribbon would work fine. I like using surveyors tape (available at hardware stores) because it’s made of plastic\, which is lighter (for a longer tail!) and durable. Surveyors tape comes in bright fluorescent colors that kids like. \n Scissors or hole punch. \nTape.

SUMMARY:(Virtual) Introduction to Ungardening: how to build your yard's connection with nature.
DESCRIPTION:Via Zoom. \nMany of our conventional gardening and yard care practices can disrupt the flow between our yards and the wild ecosystems that surround them. This creates imbalances that cause issues for humans and the natural world alike. By questioning these habits and practices and opting for native plants and restoration focused yard care\, we can help our yards be both functional spaces and functional habitats. \nSpeaker Aubree Keurajian is an ecologist located in central Connecticut. She has a bachelor’s degree in the Science of Natural and Environmental Systems from Cornell University\, and currently runs Ungardening Native Plants\, a restoration ecology consultation service and native plant nursery striving to bring restoration to small scale homeowners. She is a senior botanist at Davison Environmental and a member of the Connecticut Native Plant Working Group. Check her out online at ungardening.org or on Instagram @ungardening. \nSponsored by the Lewisboro Garden Club. \nPlease register HERE to receive your Zoom link.

SUMMARY:Birding Walk with Lewisboro Land Trust
DESCRIPTION:Did you enjoy our recent Birding 101 lecture? Time to put your skills to use! The Lewisboro Library and Lewisboro Land Trust are pleased to invite the community to observe and learn about birds on a walk at the Old Field Preserve in Waccabuc. The walk will be led by Bedford Audubon naturalist Tait Johansson. This program is good for all levels of birding experience\, and is best for adults and kids 8+. Binoculars are helpful\, but not required. Steady rain will cancel the program. \nCOVID SAFETY: All participants will be masked and socially distanced\, with the option of using one of our provided audio headsets to hear the walk leader at a distance. We ask all walk participants to download and bring a signed copy of the COVID safety guidelines and hold harmless waiver. Please download here- Lewisboro Land Trust Release-Hold Harmless Agreement. \nThe entrance to Old Field Preserve is on the East side of Mead Street (at the intersection of Schoolhouse Road) in Waccabuc. There’s plenty of parking in the preserve and on the side of the preserve driveway. \nSpace is limited. Please register below.
