DESCRIPTION:Six hour Defensive Driving course. \nCompletion of the course results in a ten percent liability insurance discount* to the principal operator as well as a maximum of four points off the driver’s violation record. Please note: this does not qualify as the defensive driving course required for new teen drivers. \nSpace is limited. Please register below and then pay in person at the Library by September 7 to hold your reservation. The fee is $45; seniors age 65 and over pay $35. Check should be made payable to John Coxen. If registration is full\, please email the Library at lewisborolibrary@gmail.com to be placed on the wait list. \nThere will be a 30-minute lunch break\, so be sure to bring a bag lunch. \n\n* All insurance companies operating or licensed to operate in NYS must accept the certificate for the discount.

For Juniors\, Sophomores & Freshmen with their Parents\n \nThis presentation is to help families of juniors\, sophomores and freshmen understand the college admissions process and how to successfully navigate the recent changes. \nHear about: current college admissions trends\, admissions strategies\, the changing test-optional environment\, the importance of researching and visiting colleges to find schools that can be a good fit for your child\, a timeline and other action steps that can be taken to make this fall productive and help reduce the stress around the college admissions process. \nWe’ll examine the holistic admissions review process\, what admissions officers consider important when they review applicants\, and how students can position themselves to develop a compelling narrative to increase their chances for admission. \nLearn about the importance of community service\, how it can provide an opportunity for meaningful experiences\, personal growth and a way to showcase a student’s character. He is well into a third horror novel\, based in upper Westchester. His other published book is the nonfiction work One Man’s Journey: A Walk on the Croton Aqueduct Trail. Ed’s career has been in magazine writing and editing at Consumer Reports\, PC Magazine and other renowned publications. \nSamantha (Sam) Talbot is a self-proclaimed weirdo and lover of the morbid\, mysterious\, and macabre. DESCRIPTION:September is National Preparedness Month – a great time to learn how to be prepared for emergencies and disasters! This one-hour program\, led by members of the National Guard\, will go over the steps you need to take to prepare for an emergency.\n \nThe Preparedness Training Program teaches residents to have the tools and resources to prepare for any type of disaster\, respond accordingly and recover as quickly as possible. Participants will be advised on how to properly prepare for any natural or man-made disaster\, including developing a family emergency plan and stocking up on emergency supplies.
