SUMMARY:(Virtual) How Covid-19 Has Changed College Admissions
DESCRIPTION:Via Zoom. \nThe latest update in a series designed to help families understand how COVID-19 has changed the college admissions landscape and how it will affect Freshmen\, Sophomores\, and Juniors. \nThe college admissions process is undergoing significant and lasting changes. Many colleges and universities have gone test optional for this current admissions cycle and will evaluate standardized testing going forward. With the opportunity for visiting colleges curtailed\, discover how students can engage with colleges virtually to help them develop a preliminary list of colleges to consider visiting when campuses are fully open. \nThis program covers how students can position themselves to develop a compelling narrative to increase their chances for admission\, as well as the importance of community service to help a student stand out from other applicants. \nThe presentation will be led by Ron Feuchs and Jackie Tepper\, partners at Stand Out For College\, LLC. \nPlease RSVP to ron@standoutforcollege.com. You will receive an invitation with a Zoom link in reply.

SUMMARY:(Virtual) Tales from "A Christmas Story"
DESCRIPTION:Via Zoom.  For All Ages. \nThe Library is excited to announce “Tales from A Christmas Story\,” a virtual reading taking place via Zoom. Join us for this humorous and heartwarming recounting of the Parker family’s Christmas-time experiences in small-town Depression-era Indiana. Only instead of gathering around your radio to listen to stories like in olden days\, your family will be gathering around the computer screen!\n\n\nThe reading will be performed by James McGowan\, a professional audiobook Narrator\, Editor and Director. James has worked for the past 6 years for Jewish Books International\, which provides audiobooks for the blind and reading impaired.\n\nPlease register below to receive your Zoom link\, which will be emailed the day before.

SUMMARY:(Virtual) Navigating College Admissions During Covid-19
DESCRIPTION:Via Zoom. \nWe are offering this Zoom presentation to help families understand how COVID-19 is changing the college admissions landscape and how it will affect Freshmen\, Sophomores\, and Juniors. \nThe college admissions process is undergoing significant and lasting changes as many colleges and universities have gone test optional for this current admissions cycle and will evaluate their standardized testing policies going forward. With the opportunity for visiting colleges curtailed\, we’ll discuss how students can engage with colleges virtually to help them develop a preliminary list of colleges to consider visiting when campuses are fully open. \nWe will discuss the holistic review process and focus on the greater consideration admissions officers will give to extracurricular activities as they will have fewer data points to rely on due to the disruptions from COVID-19. Learn how admissions officers are handling the current situation and how students can position themselves to develop a compelling narrative to increase their chances for admission. \nWe will also discuss the importance of community service\, how it can provide an opportunity for personal growth and an opportunity to showcase a student’s character. Admissions officers\, especially due to the effects from the pandemic\, are placing a great emphasis on a student’s character and how the student has been able to give back and help others during these challenging times. \nThe presentation will be led by Ron Feuchs and Jackie Tepper\, partners at Stand Out For College\, LLC. \nPlease RSVP to ron@standoutforcollege.com.  You will receive a private invitation with a Zoom link in reply. There is no charge for this event.
