DESCRIPTION:Have you always wanted to learn Mahjong? This 4-week session\, led by Donna Pirro\, will meet on Tuesday evenings from July 29 – August 19. It will give you the basic skills to start playing. \nThe Library owns Mahjong tiles\, which will be used for the class.  You will need your own Mahjong card to play.\n\n\n\nPlease order a 2025 Mahjong card as soon as possible\, so it arrives before the first class.  It can be ordered at https://www.nationalmahjonggleague.org/store.aspx#\n  \nThis is NOT a drop-in program\, registration is required. There are a limited number of spaces since we already had names on our waitlist from the last session. \nPlease register on the webpage for the first class on July 29. SUMMARY:Defensive Driving Course
DESCRIPTION:This is a 5-6 hour Defensive Driving course. \nCompletion of the course results in a ten percent liability insurance discount* to the principal operator as well as a maximum of four points off the driver’s violation record. Please note: this does not qualify as the defensive driving course required for new teen drivers. \nSpace is limited. Please register below and then pay in person at the Library to hold your reservation. The fee is $45; seniors age 65 and over pay $35. Check should be made payable to John Coxen. If registration is full\, please email the Library at lewisborolibrary@gmail.com to be placed on the wait list. \nThere will be a 30-minute lunch break\, so be sure to bring a bag lunch. \n\n* All insurance companies operating or licensed to operate in NYS must accept the certificate for the discount.

SUMMARY:(Virtual) Successfully Navigating College Admissions this Fall
DESCRIPTION:This presentation is to help families of high school juniors\, sophomores and freshmen better understand the college admissions process and how to successfully navigate the changing landscape. \nWe will discuss current college admissions trends\, admissions strategies\, the changing test-optional environment\, the importance of researching and visiting colleges to find schools that can be a good fit\, a timeline and other action steps to make this fall productive and help reduce the stress around the college admissions process. \nWe’ll examine the holistic admissions review process\, what admissions officers consider important when they review applicants and how students can position themselves to develop a compelling narrative to increase their chances for admission. \nWe will also discuss the importance of community service\, how it can provide an opportunity for meaningful experiences\, personal growth and a way to showcase a student’s character. Admissions officers place great emphasis on a student’s character including how the student has given back and helped others. \nThis program is recommended for parents and their high school teens and is a detailed and strategic overview of what students should focus on for a successful college admissions process and how to reduce the stress around it. \nThe presentation will be led by Ron Feuchs and Jackie Tepper\, partners at Stand Out For College\, LLC.
