SUMMARY:Alzheimer's Caregivers: Effective Communication Strategies
DESCRIPTION:The Library is hosting two in-person workshops this summer for individuals caring for loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease\, as a way for caregivers to learn and share experiences. This first one is on effective communicating. \nIndividuals living with dementia often experience changes in behavior that can be confusing to their caregivers. For caregivers\, learning to decode messages through attitude\, tone of voice\, facial expressions and body language can help both parties connect in meaningful ways. This program helps explain the communication changes that take place in a person with dementia and identify strategies to connect and communicate at each stage of the disease. \nPresented by the The Alzheimer’s Association Hudson Valley Chapter. Space is limited\, please register below.

SUMMARY:Westchester Power
DESCRIPTION:This informational session is to update community members on changes to their energy supply. Representatives from Westchester Power and Sustainable Westchester will be discussing the details of the upcoming contract for NYSEG rates\, which starts December 1\, 2023. They will present the details of the new contract\, including the supplier and rates\, and welcome questions the community may have on how to read their bill and energy related questions. \nWestchester Power is a community-based bulk energy purchasing program designed to control costs and increase the use of renewable energy in Westchester County. It was initiated and implemented by Sustainable Westchester Inc\, on behalf of member municipalities that have chosen to participate in the program. The program was established in 2016 and includes 29 municipalities throughout Westchester County who buy their electricity in bulk to provide a competitive\, fixed rate. The program provides two supply options: 100% Renewable Supply\, where the entire electricity supply is matched by New York State qualified hydropower Renewable Energy Certificates\, and a Standard Supply\, where the electricity supply is a mixture of fossil fuels\, nuclear\, and some renewable energy. Learn more about the program here: https://sustainablewestchester.org/wp/. \nPlease register below to attend the presentation in person. \nIf you prefer to attend via Zoom\, you can join that evening by clicking on this LINK.

SUMMARY:Author Talk: Fiona Davis - "The Spectacular"
DESCRIPTION:We are thrilled to welcome back New York Times bestselling author Fiona Davis\, to talk about her latest novel The Spectacular. Fiona has written six historical fiction novels\, set in iconic New York City landmarks\, which showcase the stories behind the famous buildings at key moments in history through the eyes of female characters. Her previous bestsellers include The Lions of Fifth Avenue\, set at the New York Public Library\, and The Magnolia Palace set at the Frick Collection. \nIn The Spectacular\, Fiona Davis invites readers behind the shimmering gold curtain of one of the most famous stages in the world\, Radio City Music Hall\, as a talented young dancer in the 1950s defies society’s (and her family’s) expectations when she joins the glamorous precision-dancing troupe\, the Rockettes. SUMMARY:Community Safety Series: Stop the Bleed
DESCRIPTION:For Adults and Teens ages 15 and older.\n\n\nAccidents happen in an instant\, and getting help for the wounded in a timely manner is critical. Additional safety workshops will be offered in the fall.\n\n\nSpace is limited; please register below.
