SUMMARY:Westchester Power
DESCRIPTION:This informational session is to update community members on changes to their energy supply. Representatives from Westchester Power and Sustainable Westchester will be discussing the details of the upcoming contract for NYSEG rates\, which starts December 1\, 2023. They will present the details of the new contract\, including the supplier and rates\, and welcome questions the community may have on how to read their bill and energy related questions. \nWestchester Power is a community-based bulk energy purchasing program designed to control costs and increase the use of renewable energy in Westchester County. It was initiated and implemented by Sustainable Westchester Inc\, on behalf of member municipalities that have chosen to participate in the program. The program was established in 2016 and includes 29 municipalities throughout Westchester County who buy their electricity in bulk to provide a competitive\, fixed rate. The program provides two supply options: 100% Renewable Supply\, where the entire electricity supply is matched by New York State qualified hydropower Renewable Energy Certificates\, and a Standard Supply\, where the electricity supply is a mixture of fossil fuels\, nuclear\, and some renewable energy. Learn more about the program here: https://sustainablewestchester.org/wp/. \nPlease register below to attend the presentation in person. \nIf you prefer to attend via Zoom\, you can join that evening by clicking on this LINK.

SUMMARY:Alzheimer's Caregivers: Understanding & Responding to Dementia-Related Behavior
DESCRIPTION:The Library is hosting two in-person workshops this summer for individuals caring for loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease\, as a way for caregivers to learn and share experiences. This second one deals with responding to dementia-related behavior. \nDuring the middle stage of dementia\, the person with the disease often starts to exhibit new behaviors that can be confusing for a caregiver. These behaviors are actually a form of communication\, and are essential to understanding the needs of the person with dementia. This program helps identify common triggers for common behaviors associated with dementia and learn strategies for addressing these behaviors. \nPresented by the The Alzheimer’s Association Hudson Valley Chapter. Space is limited\, please register below.

SUMMARY:Community Safety Series: Stop the Bleed
DESCRIPTION:For Adults and Teens ages 15 and older.\n\n\nAccidents happen in an instant\, and getting help for the wounded in a timely manner is critical. STOP THE BLEED is the result of a collaborative effort led by the American College of Surgeons Committee to bring knowledge of bleeding control to the public\, essentially to train bystanders to take life-saving action if needed until professional help arrives. The skills you learn in this 90 minute class can help save a life!\n\n\nThe Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps (LVAC) is sponsoring and leading this class\, which will instruct community members in the proper methods to control active bleeding in an emergency situation using tourniquets\, applying direct pressure and wound packing.\n\n\nThis class is part of a Community Safety Series coordinated by the Lewisboro Library\, LVAC\, and the Town’s Emergency Management Committee. Additional safety workshops will be offered in the fall.\n\n\nSpace is limited; please register below.
