DESCRIPTION:The Lewisboro Library Book Group meets at the Library on the last Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. \nThis month the group will be discussing the The Confidante: The Untold Story of the Woman Who Helped Win WWII and Shape Modern America. Written by Christopher C. Gorham\, it is the first biography of Anna Marie Rosenberg\, the Hungarian Jewish immigrant who became FDR’s closest advisor during World War II. As special envoy to Europe in World War II she went where the president couldn’t go\, she was among the first Allied women to enter a liberated concentration camp. She guided the direction of the G.I. Bill of Rights and the Manhattan Project.  \nBooks are available through the Westchester Library System and copies are often ordered in advance for members to pick up at the Library. DESCRIPTION:Have you always wanted to learn Mahjong? This 4-week session\, led by Donna Pirro\, will meet on Tuesday evenings from July 29 – August 19. It will give you the basic skills to start playing. \nThe Library owns Mahjong tiles\, which will be used for the class.  You will need your own Mahjong card to play.\n\n\n\nPlease order a 2025 Mahjong card as soon as possible\, so it arrives before the first class.  It can be ordered at https://www.nationalmahjonggleague.org/store.aspx#\n  \nThis is NOT a drop-in program\, registration is required. DESCRIPTION:The Lewisboro Library Fair takes place on Saturday\, September 20\, 2025. The annual Fair is our largest fundraiser to support the Library. \nThe Book Sale and Attic Treasures Sale are two of the most popular events of the Fair – and we need YOUR gently used items for these sales. \nOn Saturdays August 9 & 16 from 9 am to 1 pm\, and August 23 from 10 am to 2 pm\, volunteers will be collecting donations of gently used books and Attic Treasures at Onatru Farm Park. SUMMARY:In Search of Sanity: How to Approach College Admissions in 2025
DESCRIPTION:For parents\, and teens entering their Junior/Senior year of High School \nHave a teen headed to college in the next few years? \n30 years ago\, there were no American colleges that accepted less than 10% of their applicants. Today\, over 30 accept less than 10%\, and dozens more accept below 15%. International applicants are taking up a larger and larger percentage of those spots. Moreover\, kids are applying to more and more schools\, so there is no reason to believe those numbers will get any less scary in the future. \nKeith Berman\, President of Options for College\, has worked in the Harvard and Yale admissions offices and has been advising schools and students since 2005 in private practice. His talk will look at the state of admissions\, discussing how his advisees emerged successful\, and looking at how to get some “Return on Investment” out of tuition. \nHe will also share what the process looks and feels like as a parent\, having had a daughter survive and thrive through the most competitive year in admissions history\, providing tips on how to support your children without letting applications consume you. \nPlease register below.
