SUMMARY:(Virtual) Navigating College Admissions Successfully in 2023
DESCRIPTION:Via Zoom. This program is recommended for parents and their high school teens. \nThis Zoom presentation will help families understand how the lingering effects from the pandemic have changed the college admissions landscape for Juniors\, Sophomores and Freshmen. \nEach college admissions cycle is increasingly competitive. Many schools had record numbers of applicants. Record high numbers of applications result in record low acceptance rates which is what most popular colleges and universities experienced this past admissions cycle. \nLearn about current college admissions trends\, the importance of researching and visiting colleges to find schools that are a good fit for your child\, a timeline and other action steps that can be taken to make this second half of the school year productive and help reduce the stress around the college admissions process. Examine the holistic admissions review process\, what admissions officers consider important when they review applicants\, and how students can position themselves to develop a compelling narrative to increase their chances for admission. \nHear about the importance of community service\, how it can provide an opportunity for personal growth and a way to showcase a student’s character. Admissions officers place great emphasis on a student’s character and how the student has been able to give back and help others. \nClick HERE to register for the Zoom link. If this date does not work\, the session will also be offered on January 25 and March 15. \nThe presentation will be led by Ron Feuchs and Jackie Tepper\, partners at Stand Out For College\, LLC.

SUMMARY:Afternoon Film Series: "Women Talking"
DESCRIPTION:Our afternoon film series continues with a showing of Women Talking\, another of this year’s Academy Award contenders for best picture. \n\n\nWomen Talking is inspired by real-life events that occurred at the Manitoba Colony\, a remote and isolated ultraconservative Mennonite community in Bolivia. In 2010\, the women and girls of the colony discover that the men have been using cow tranquilizer to subdue and rape them. The attackers are arrested and imprisoned in a nearby city. Most of the men of the colony travel to oversee the bail\, leaving the women by themselves for two days to determine how they will proceed. The women meet to talk and vote on whether to stay and do nothing\, stay and fight\, or leave. \n  \n\nSpace is limited\, please register below.
