DESCRIPTION:The Lewisboro Garden Club is hosting this presentation by landscape architect Lisa Turoczi\, owner of Earth Tones Native Plant Nursery in Woodbury CT.\n\n\n\n\n\nLisa has worked in the Landscape Design business for nearly 20 years. After finding it difficult to source native plant material\, she and her husband Kyle created their own Native Plant Nursery. Most of the plant material offered at the nursery has been grown from locally collected seed sources.  \nEarth Tones\, LLC is a 100% native plant nursery that offers grasses\, ferns\, perennials\, shrubs and trees that are native to New England. They also provide landscape design\, installation\, and consultation services as well as storm water management and wetland enhancements\, all with a focus on environmentally sound practices.  \n\n\n\n\n\nSpace is limited and registration is required. As most colleges go test-optional and increase their virtual outreach to high school students\, a record number of candidates are applying. With record high numbers of applications come record low acceptance rates at many popular colleges and universities. \nAdmissions officers are giving greater consideration to extracurricular activities\, since most students will have had a year or more of grades earned during remote/hybrid learning\, which will carry less weight when applications are reviewed. Get the facts and background on this disputed area of land delineated as 20 miles east of the Hudson River and extending from Long Island Sound to the Massachusetts border. It includes land traded between the New York and Connecticut colonies beginning in the 18th century and finalized in the 20th century. What was it like to be traded back and forth between colonies? What part of Lewisboro was included in the Disputed Lands? Which colony was the winner? DESCRIPTION:Don’t miss our area’s premiere showing of this new documentary film! \n\n\nThe introduction\, spread\, and management of invasive species is heavily influenced by the actions of citizens who live\, work\, and recreate on NY’s public and private lands and waterways. Education and outreach about invasive species increases awareness and knowledge\, which are necessary precursors to behavior changes that could reduce risks throughout the State. \n\n\n\n\n\n“Uninvited: The Spread of Invasive Species” is an engaging one-hour documentary which focuses on invasive species and highlights those that are threatening our environment and economy\, while also showing innovative ways of combating these threats through the NYS Department of Conservation’s collaborative work with its partners. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Brent Boscarino\, PhD\, Coordinator\, Lower Hudson Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management. \n\nPresented by the Lewisboro Land Trust\, the Lewisboro Garden Club and the Lewisboro Library. \nDue to Covid precautions\, space will be limited to allow for social distancing and participants are required to wear masks. The book tells of the heroes of the Vilna ghetto who rescued art and literature from the Nazis.
