SUMMARY:The Good\, The Bad\, and The Ugly – Behind the Classical Music Scenes
DESCRIPTION:The final product is divine\, and the audience walks away deeply satisfied.  However\, behind the scenes\, what do you think goes on in the lives of singers\, players\, conductors\, managers\, coaches\, concert hall staff and publicists in the weeks and months leading up to the concert? It is far from smooth sailing. The answers will surprise and intrigue you. \nThis “insider’s view” will be presented by Dr. Harold Rosenbaum\, the award-winning founder and conductor of the distinguished professional choir The New York Virtuoso Singers and celebrated volunteer choir The Canticum Novum Singers.  The choirs have performed many times on Lincoln Center’s Great Performers Series and in concerts with notables including James Galway\, Tony Bennett\, Licia Albanese\, Marianne Faithful and The Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society.  Over the years\, Rosenbaum has collaborated with hundreds of notable contemporary composers\, with highlights including concerts with the legendary Oscar-winning film composer Ennio Morricone. \nHarold is also involved with the “Sounds Choral” listening program on www.wwfm.org. His first show happens to premiere on Sunday\, October 5 at 2 pm – right before his Library presentation! Feel free to stream it and ask him questions. \nPlease register below.

SUMMARY:Lewisboro Seniors Book Group: "The Poppy Fields"
DESCRIPTION:Our group meets in person on (usually) the third Wednesday of the month during the Lewisboro Senior Adults meeting at the Stevens Memorial United Methodist Church. The church is located at 9 Shady Lane\, South Salem All seniors are welcome! \nThis month the group will be discussing The Poppy Fields\, by Nikki Erlick\, the NY Times bestselling author of the smash-hit The Measure. In a remote stretch of the California desert lies an experimental and controversial treatment center that allows those suffering from the heartache of loss to sleep through their pain…and keep on sleeping. After patients awaken from this prolonged state of slumber\, they will finally be healed. But only if they’re willing to accept the potential shadowy side effects. \nThe Library will provide copies of the book to all participants. Large print copies are also available upon request. Please contact the Library if you need a copy of the book – (914) 875-9004 or info@lewisborolibrary.org. The book is also available as an eBook and audiobook via Overdrive/Libby.
