SUMMARY:Recycled Book Craft: Book Quote Wall Hanging
DESCRIPTION:This program is for Adults. \nThis workshop will show you how to turn a well-worn\, well-loved book into a unique piece of art – promoting sustainability by giving new life to discarded materials. \nAshlyn Longobardi of The Simple Sunday will lead this class on creating framed pieces from old books. For this project\, we’ll use the whole book to create a three-dimensional piece\, the decorated book will be mounted within a picture frame\, with the glass or plastic removed. \nThe Library will have a supply of discarded books\, but participants are encouraged to bring their own well-worn favorite books for a more personalized touch (eg. a favorite worn children’s book for a child’s room.) Participants should also bring their own recycled 11″ x 14″ wood frame – if you don’t have one\, they are easily found at tag sales and thrift shops. A large 10-inch photo display stand (see photo below) can be used in place of a frame. \n\n \nSpace is limited\, please register below.

SUMMARY:Community Safety Workshop: Stop the Bleed
DESCRIPTION:For Adults and Teens ages 16 and older. Another important community safety program being held in cooperation with the Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps. LVAC is leading this class\, which will instruct community members in the proper methods to control active bleeding in an emergency situation using tourniquets\, applying direct pressure and wound packing. Accidents happen in an instant\, and getting help for the wounded in a timely manner is critical. STOP THE BLEED brings knowledge of bleeding control to the public\, essentially to train bystanders to take life-saving action\, if needed\, until professional help arrives. The skills you learn in this 90 minute class can help save a life!\n Registration is being taken by the Library\, but the workshop will be held at LVAC headquarters – because the fake blood can get messy! Please register below. LVAC is located at 777 Route 35 in Cross River.

SUMMARY:Lewisboro Seniors Book Group: "The Women"
DESCRIPTION:Our group meets in person on (usually) the third Wednesday of the month during the Lewisboro Senior Adults meeting at the South Salem Firehouse. This month we meet on the fourth Wednesday. All seniors are welcome! \nThis month the group will be discussing The Women\, by Kristin Hannah. This NY Times bestselling novel tells the story of a young female nursing student who enlists to go to Vietnam. Large print copies are also available upon request. Please contact the Library if you need a copy of the book – (914) 875-9004 or lewisborolibrary@gmail.com. The book is also available as an eBook and audiobook via Overdrive/Libby.
