SUMMARY:(Virtual) Minidoka: An American Concentration Camp
DESCRIPTION:Via Zoom. \nDuring World War II\, over 120\,000 people of Japanese ancestry were forcibly removed from their homes and incarcerated without due process of law. The Minidoka concentration camp once held over 13\,000 Japanese Americans in the Idaho desert. The program will be led by Certified Wildlife Biologist Budd Veverka\, Director of Land Management at the Mianus River Gorge in Westchester County. Budd’s long-time study of the species and first-hand experience\, along with his outgoing and personable nature make for an educational and enjoyable presentation. \nGet an understanding of black bear biology and why black bears are moving into our area. From walking your dog to feeding the birds\, learn how to peacefully co-exist with these large charismatic mammals.
