DESCRIPTION:Via Zoom. \nThe Roosevelt era’s Works Progress Administration (WPA) is known for its many infrastructure projects and improvements. But it also consisted of a little known program called the Packhorse Librarians. Jeffrey Urbin\, the Education Specialist for the FDR Presidential Library & Museum will present the story of the Packhorse Librarians\, a relatively small group of women\, whose mission was to deliver and distribute reading materials to the far-off corners of Appalachia during the Great Depression – on horseback. \nFans of the novels The Giver of Stars and The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek will be intrigued by the real-life story of those who rode for the program. \nCo-sponsored by the Lewisboro\, Hendrick Hudson\, New Rochelle & Pound Ridge Libraries. \nPlease register HERE for your Zoom link.

KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR RESCHEDULED DATE. \nFor adults\, teens and children in grades 3 and up. \nCelebrate World Kindness Week (November 7 – 13) by helping us braid fleece pull toys for the dogs in training at Guiding Eyes for the Blind! A great community service family activity.\n \nThe workshop will be held from 5 to 8 pm\, so come in when it is convenient for you (note: no school on November 8\, so no worries about being out on a school night!) \nWe are seeking donations of fleece material or throws to use for this project.  Please bring in to the Library. DESCRIPTION:Come meet local author Aimee Pokwatka\, whose first novel\, Self-Portrait With Nothing\, was published in October to impressive reviews.\n\n\n\n\n      The book tells the story of Forensic Anthropologist Pepper Rafferty\, abandoned as an infant on the local veterinarian’s front porch. When she mysteriously inherits property from missing artist Ula Frost\, a reclusive painter famous for claiming that her portraits summon doppelgangers from parallel universes\, Pepper sets out to discover more about Ula – and parallel universes.\n\n\n\n      Aimee\, who has also had a number of short stories published\, will talk about her book and the writing process.
