DESCRIPTION:Via Zoom. \nRetired FDNY Deputy Chief Tom Dunne discusses his book “Notes from the Fireground: Memoir of a New York Firefighter.” \nIn a 33 year career with the New York City Fire Department\, Tom Dunne fought hundreds of fires\, survived near death incidents and was witness to multiple tragedies. He was one of the responders to the Happy Lands Social Club fire in the Bronx\, a disaster of historical proportions where 87 people died. He worked through Hurricane Sandy\, which flooded and devastated whole sections of New York City. Most notably\, Chief Dunne worked for months supervising rescue and recovery operations following the World Trade Center terrorist attack. He saw how people in crisis lived and survived and how the firefighters who served them worked and bonded. DESCRIPTION:THIS PROGRAM IS FULL!  The instructor is also offering the class in the following locations in the next 2 months: Putnam Valley Library (May 7)\, Mahopac Library (May 21)\, Croton Recreation Dept. (June 4). Please contact these facilities. \nThis is a six hour Defensive Driving course. Completion of the course results in a ten percent liability insurance discount to the principal operator as well as a maximum of four points off the driver’s violation record. \nSpace is limited. Please register below and pay in person at the Library to hold your reservation. Must pay by April 18 to hold your space.  \nThe fee is $45; seniors over 65 is $35. Check should be made payable to John Coxen. \nSince this course is 6 hours\, be sure to bring a lunch to eat at the midday break.
